It’s Pentecost! We remember and celebrate the outpouring of the Holy Spirit! The book of Acts records that amazing day in the life of the church! But do we realize the church was, in a way, set up to both grow… AND be scattered… scattered by persecution… at the same time? There are celebratory and sobering aspects to this glorious outpouring: power falling on the Church, but an empowering to navigate persecution. Both of these have been part of the fabric of the impact of the Church in the Kingdom of God. This week we reflect on these realities and see that the Holy Spirit every day powers God’s people for holiness and obedience, and at the same time empowers the Church to takes its place… and its stand in this world!
